Our Story
Ladia and Amy were both living in the city and realised that it was not a fulfilling life. As nature lovers, we were certain that we wanted to raise our children in a lush natural environment out of the city. When Ladia arrived at the old tea processing site in Lenggong, situated at the fringe hills of the Bintang Hijau Forest Ranges, he found paradise.
In order to co-exist with this paradise, Permaculture Perak was born. For 11 years since 2008, Permaculture Perak was the pioneering sustainable living education centre that successfully made a long-lasting positive impact of many people’s lives from immersing themselves in nature’s classroom. Permaculture Perak also was featured in a full-length National Geographic documentary titled “Living Free with Kimi Werner”.
Sadly, Permaculture Perak had to shut down after an unavoidable land eviction enforced by the state government in 2019.
We arrived at a new land and started doing what we did best – set up a sustainable home and farm from scratch.
We restarted our true calling in education when the pandemic came. started getting calls from our previous community of guests and students. The urgency of the pandemic had spurred them to seek these knowledge and life skills again. We were reaffirmed that our previous mission in education of sustainable living was even more crucial.
One of our sons asked for a sheep for his birthday present. We wanted a Malaysian identity for our new farm’s name. So 3 kids and 3 sheeps later, Tigabiri was born.
Today Tigabiri continues its journey from Permaculture Perak in the spirit of changing lives through authentic sustainable experiences.
